I've been reading this for a while and I must admit that I have the same issues with Stern as have been posted here. Perhaps I'm used to being a second class citizen having worked in financial operations for some time, but I guess I'm over it. Stern cannot bite the hand that feeds it and the part time program is very lucrative for them. If they started actively trying to place people from the ccwp, do you think that firms would want to reimburse people for their MBA's? This makes it possible for many people to get an MBA to begin with. I have simply resolved myself to doing it on my own as I have had to do my whole life. I've witnessed the thugs at the doors to recruiting events and I've received harassing emails from full time students telling me to stay away from their events. I ignore it and keep pushing on with the knowledge that Stern is not going to help me. This saves me the time of seeking help from them and allows me to concentrate on networking.
I must say though, I pretty much laughed in the face of the Stern counselor in the ccwp when she suggested I "contact alumni" through Swap and network through work. Where's the value added of telling me the obvious. In my honest opinion I think that they should shut down the ccwp (come on, my undergraduate tiny liberal arts school had better career services) and give a refund to the part timers of whatever it's costing them. That closet of an office on the first floor could be put to better use like storing printer paper or more computers to check email.
One other point, stop comparing NYU to schools like North Western. Those schools are in the boonies so they have to let their part timers participate in recruiting. Where else are they going to go?

Few comments:
CCWP = Career Center for Working Professionals. CCWP is part of Stern's OCD (Office of Career Development). CCWP's main objective is to prevent part-time students from participating in on-campus recruiting events.
OCD = NYU Stern Office of Career Development. This organization is dedicated to helping full-time students find jobs and internships. OCD also asks full-time students not to share recruiting resources with part-timers and not to invite part-time students to any recruiting events.
Part-time Stern MBA students are treated like second-class citizens both by Administration and full-time students.
